In the press
How sweet potato acts in the juicer.
- Yield
- High
- Sweet Potato can add steady yield, but firmer roots need slower feeding.
- Difficulty
- Moderate
- Cut firm pieces small enough for your chute and avoid forcing the press.
- Texture
- Dense
- Adds body, color, and a more concentrated finish than watery produce.
- Foam
- Medium
- May foam or separate lightly after sitting; stir or shake before drinking.
- Watch for
- Staining
- Use a board you can rinse quickly after prepping sweet potato.
- Best order
- With apples or watery produce
- Alternate sweet potato with apple, carrot, cucumber, or celery when possible.
Choose · store · prep
Get it ready before the press.
Choose
- Firm roots with smooth, taut skin.
- Heavy for size.
- Avoid soft, sprouting, or wrinkled potatoes.
Store
- Store whole roots in a cool, dry place.
Prep
- Scrub well, peel if desired, and cut into narrow pieces.
- Garnet and Jewel varieties have the sweetest, deepest-orange juice. Cut into narrow strips — wide pieces stress most cold-press augers.
